IT Announcements
MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication)
MFA is coming for students, faculty, and staff. Students will be required to enroll on April 22, if they don’t do it earlier. Faculty and Staff will be required to enroll on June 3 but are encouraged to enroll now. MFA will help to better protect email by requiring a second factor (such as a text code) in order to access email from mobile devices on the wireless network or from off-campus. MFA is not required for campus wired computers. The use of MFA on mobile devices requires a supported mail client, such as MS Outlook.
Single Sign On (SSO)
SSO to Office365 email is in place. When you log into a computer on campus with your bluenet ID, you will not need to put in your password to access office365 email.
Testing new versions of MS Office
IT is currently testing newer versions of MS Office for PC and Mac.
Adobe Creative Cloud 2019
Adobe has changed their licensing model for Creative Cloud. IT hopes to install this new version over the summer – still testing – more info to come.
Google Chrome is now the default browser in classrooms and labs – it will be changed on faculty/staff machines after Registration. With this change the default PDF viewer is Chrome.
Reminder: In preparation of software installation needs in labs and classrooms for Fall 2019 – please complete the online form.
Reminder: MS Office is free for up to 5 computers and 5 personal devices with Office365 accounts.

IDTRC Announcements
Updated web site – www.ccsu.edu/idtrc
Internet Explorer no longer works with Blackboard – there is warning in Blackboard.
New FT Staff Member
In the final stages of hiring the person to replace Claude Abbott in the IDTRC. Awaiting background check.
Ally (ADA Compliance software) – is currently being piloted by a few faculty but it is rarely being used. Do we need to continue looking at this software?
Committee Reports:
LMS Committee
Met – recommendations going to RFP Steering Committee – Shirley Adams (Charter Oak)
IT Strategic Planning
Discovery process complete after 8 workshops – answering the follow up consultant questions – broad recommendation – broad strategic goals – if we continue doing what we’re doing, we will get incrementally more expensive to maintain – this model is not sustainable. Targeting mid-June for final written report.
Web Advisory Committee
Revised the by-laws – worked to address SUOAF issues – wording changed from decide to advise
Expanded membership – added voting rights to some members
Motion to accept the revised by-laws (Kevin/Jay) – pending Lisa Bigelow’s (SUOAF President) approval – passed – going to Faculty Senate.
P&T/ITC Subcommittee
Survey was done to assess the process – most of faculty, being renewed, liked it. End of this process was all printed because HR requires paper records – HR will be moving towards digitizing records starting this summer.
New Business
Formed an elections committee – Jay Melnyk and Charles Menoche
Adjourned 2:25pm
