Meeting called to order at 1:20pm.

Approval of Minutes April 03, 2020 (Burkholder/Hard) Passed unanimously.

IT Announcements

  • Currently in the process of moving S: drives over to Teams. Providing training.
  • U: drives will be moving to Teams by the end of the summer.
  • Software Requests are moving forward into the purchasing process.
  • Maple software: Recommend we only make this available on Citrix and not on local computers. This will enable us to limit how many licenses we need to purchase. Committee agreed.
  • SPSS software: Will be upgrades this summer – we are 2 versions behind.

IDTRC Announcements

    • Proctorio is replacing Respondus Lockdown Browser. Access through Blackboard. It’s a Google Chrome extension. Info and training schedule available on IDTRC web pages.
    • Course Survey in BB will be automated going forward.

Committee Reports

    • LMS: no update – next meeting in June.
    • P&T Subcommittee: Online digital folder is not like paper manilla folder – no need for 3 copies. Student opinion surveys should not go in folder. Moving forward with some issues.

New Business

    • Elections: Since Faculty Senate has not completed elections so we will hold off our elections until the first meeting the Fall semester. Agreed.
      CCSU Technology Needs Workgroup
    • Lots of student feedback from President’s survey.
    • Final report due May 15.
    • Teams is a fully functional alternative to WebEx and has many other features.
    • Adobe Sign needs to be used for all CCSU official documents.
    • There are many challenges that still need to be addresses for getting people on-ground.
    • Students need access to campus software.
    • Students disappeared from class because of inadequate computer technology.

Discussion:

  • How can we get better computers for students?
  • Request for Quality Matters Training for faculty to encourage more online usage.
  • Useful polling feature in WebEx is not intuitive. What is the alternative? Microsoft Forms for polling in Teams.
  • How are we going to address hardware needs for faculty and staff?
  • Can we get some 2-in-1 tablets so we can use as whiteboard?
  • There will be more training from IDTRC to assist with online teaching.
  • System Office has some funds that might be available to CCSU.
  • Media Staff are currently looking at new multimedia in classrooms that will be able to record in the classroom and integrated with Kaltura – more information to come.
  • These concerns will be put on the Faculty Senate agenda.
