Approval of Minutes Nov 6, 2020 with one change: S Petras is a member, not a guest. Passed unanimously.

IT Announcements

  • Mobile Workforce – laptop configuration
  • Security Awareness training for people who access Secure Enclave – must be done by Dec. 15
  • Adobe Flash Player end of life December 31
  • Adobe Creative Cloud and SPSS – updating to new version over winter break
  • SPSS – should be used in VDA – General Lab – will be removed from ccsu.edu.
  • Electronic forms
    • Microsoft forms – for basic forms, surveys, quizzes, polls. – QR code
    • Select Survey – more advanced features
    • Adobe Acrobat DC and Adobe Sign – used to create, edit, and sign PDF’s – basic sign and routing forsignatures
    • NEOGOV/NEOED – HR system for application process – includes E sign
    • Hyland Unity Forms – integrates with Banner – replace Image/web Now
  • Pivot Plan
  • EDUroam – New Britain pilot has not yet materialized
  • IT updates to video communication software – hubs overheating in hyflex rooms – replacing
  • New facilities in HyFlex rooms for Spr21
    • Vance 003 – 15-person Mac computer classroom
    • Vance 005 – 15-person open Mac computer lab
  • Zoom update – BOR CIO – still need to be off by Dec. 31 – pedagogical exception – route through IT Governance structure. – cannot install campus version on personal computers

IDTRC Announcements

  • Lots of new training sessions available – HyFlex classrooms, Micro carts, Student experience, etc. – check IDTRC
  • BB and Collaborate rolling updates but not major
  • Collaborate will be increasing number per meeting but will not be adding more faces that can be visible until next

Old Business

  • Software/Hardware request committee
    • Facing dwindling budget, the committee needs to prioritize the list – we may not be able to fund Need to look at license cost per student
      • are there free alternatives – can we charge students a tech fee? Can RStudio replace SPSS?
    • Form a subcommittee to look at ever diminishing funds for software, going forward – Johnson, Menoche, Singh, Clapp
  • Online Learning Committee (T Burkholder) – almost ready to release the survey to faculty

New Business

  • BOR CSU-AAUP proposals distance learning statement – S Barnett proposed the following response:
    • In response to the BOR’s proposed changes to the CSU-AAUP contract, the ITC rejects all the proposed changes to distance learning. We reaffirm the principles of quality distance learning, which requires notonly the primacy of faculty decision-making in the planning and execution of distance learning but also ownership of any and all intellectual property resulting from these
    • Motion – accept the language that Stuart put in his email to the committee
      • no discussion (TB/ Jooeng) – passed. Going to Faculty Senate.
    • Deans subcommittee load credit reports need Focus task force will work on it – includes ITCmembers.
    • Labs/Studios on campus – Facilities makes decisions without involving department and facultyregarding space Go to the Facility Planning Committee, IPC?
    • IT Website changes – cleaner look, more user friendly, and a more user-focused design – on-going Included a new chat bot called “Ask Kizer”. Solicited input from students and faculty. Should be up andrunning in January.
    • Semester Review – what worked, what needs to be discussed/changed
      • Need more discussion regarding student online forms to make it easier for students. Need to phase out
      • Need to start thinking about Fall 2021 Facilities/technology, etc.
    • Should we look at more Online Degrees to generate revenue? Use a “Broadcasting model” where students can come to class or join remotely (from all over the world) – there could be a different pricing structure based how student
